Anne Frank
Anne Frank (1929–1945) was a German-born Jewish girl who gained worldwide fame posthumously with her diary, which documents her life in hiding during the Holocaust. She and her family hid in a secret annex in Amsterdam for two years before being betrayed. Anne died in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp at age 15. Her diary, originally written in Dutch, was published by her father Otto Frank and has become one of the most widely read books in the world, symbolizing hope and the human spirit in the face of oppression.
